In brief: Holiday craft sale starts Friday at Sinto center

WEST CENTRAL NEIGHBORHOOD – The Sinto Senior Activity Center, 1124 W. Sinto Ave., will host a holiday craft sale Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be a spaghetti feed Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and breakfast both days from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Fall Leaf Festival Saturday at Finch Arboretum

WEST HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD – The City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department of Urban Forestry will present its annual Fall Leaf Festival on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John A. Finch Arboretum, 3404 W. Woodland Blvd. The event will include piles of leaves to jump in, a compost fair with the Spokane Master Composters and Recyclers, information booths, kids’ activities and more.

There also will be a walking tour of the arboretum Friday at 1 p.m. The tour is free, but participants must register. Local experts will give a short presentation before the tour.

Professor will speak on state’s primary system

LOGAN NEIGHBORHOOD – Kevin Henrickson, a professor of economics at Gonzaga University, will speak on the topic, “Washington’s New Primary System: Analysis, Insights, Implications” Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Herak Club Room of the McCarthey Athletic Center, 801 N. Cincinnati.

The event is being hosted by the Greater Gonzaga Guild.

Liberty Lake police host domestic violence event

LIBERTY LAKE – The Liberty Lake Police Department is hosting a free domestic violence symposium on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Police Department, 23127 E. Mission Ave.

The event features Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus as well as domestic violence program staff from the YWCA and Abuse Recovery Ministry and Services.

Free genealogy workshop at Spokane Valley Library

SPOKANE VALLEY – The May Hutton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will offer a free genealogy patriot workshop Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Spokane Valley Library, 12004 E. Main Ave.

Participants should bring a pedigree chart or family lineage.
