Volleyball: Central Valley improves to 8-0 in GSL

Keann White had seven kills and Sasha Montgomery added eight digs and two aces Thursday as Central Valley improved to 8-0 in Greater Spokane League volleyball with a 3-0 win at Ferris.

Jade Rockwood accounted for a game-high 27 assists for the Bears, who will host University on Tuesday to close the regular season.

U-Hi is 7-0 headed into tonight’s home match against Mead (5-2).

Haley Carl had nine kills for Ferris (2-6).

Also in the GSL, Gonzaga Prep (6-2) moved ahead of idle Mead into third place alone with a 3-0 win over visiting Lewis and Clark. Maria Adams had nine kills, eight digs and one block for G-Prep. Joslyn Bopray had three aces, eight digs and nine blocks for the Tigers (4-4), who dropped into a fifth-place tie with Mt. Spokane. … Arianna Newcomb had 21 kills and two blocks, and Karly Cantu had 36 assists and five aces as Mt. Spokane posted a 3-0 win at Rogers (0-8). … District play for 4A and 3A teams begins next week. The 4A will send three teams to regionals while the 3A sends two.

• Melissa Langerveld had 10 kills and three aces to lead Pullman (7-4) to a 3-0 win at Clarkston in the Great Northern League. Chelsea Bone had a game-high 24 assists for Pullman. Hailey Denton led Clarkston (4-7) with 15 assists, two aces and 10 digs. … Also in the GNL, Katie McGourin had 10 kills and two blocks, and Peyton Stark totaled 18 assists, four aces and 10 digs as Cheney (5-6) rallied from a 2-1 set deficit to top visiting West Valley 3-2. The Eagles finished league play 1-11.
