Biviano is safe choice

The general election is here and it is imperative to elect civic leaders who will have Spokane’s interests at heart, not their own. In the case of Spokane County treasurer, we need a leader who understands the financial needs of our area.

Our current treasurer, Rob Chase, is not that person. His attempt to remove safety protections in our county investment pool to invest taxpayer money in gold and silver would have cost our taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars had it not been for the statewide organization of county treasurers who stepped in and stopped this irresponsible proposal. In the last two years, silver has lost over 50 percent of its value. This would have meant that hundreds of millions of dollars would have been taken away from our community schools and public safety.

Thankfully, there is a better option for the position of county treasurer: Amy Biviano. Biviano has been an accountant for small businesses and nonprofit organizations in our community for 10 years. She is also on the finance committees for the YMCA, Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Inland Northwest Business Association. Educated locally as well, Biviano is a certified public accountant and has a master’s degree in public administration from Gonzaga University.

Please join me in voting for Amy Biviano for Spokane County treasurer.
