Obituary: Chickene, Thomas Nicholas “Tc”

Age 84

CHICKENE, Thomas Nicholas “TC” May 13, 1930 - September 23, 2014 “TC” was born in Trenton, NJ., and adopted by Joseph and Katherine Chickene of Newark, NJ., in 1933.

He was raised as an only child in N. Jersey and the Jersey Shore.

In 1947 he married his high school sweetheart, Lucille.

They raised their children, (John and spouse, ND., Robert, MT., and the late Barbara Helms, Spokane), in N. Jersey.

In 1980 “TC” and Lucille moved to Central Florida where they worked in real estate until her death a few years later.

He relocated to Seattle where he was involved in The Pea Patch Garden Program, The Food Bank and The Arts community in a volunteer capacity.

Years later he moved to Las Vegas where he spent weeks at a time hiking and painting in Death Valley.

Then he spent ten years in Metalline Falls and decided to relocate in Spokane.

In 2001 “TC” married Sharon Hamilton, Spokane Valley.

In Spokane “TC” spent many years volunteering at The Food Bank, The Mac, The Pea Patch Garden Project at All Saints Lutheran Church, Browne’s Addition, and Interplayers.

In 2003 he married Kathleen Russell, Spokane.

“TC” was a kind, gentle gregarious man who spent hours recounting his travels, politics,concerns about the environment, GMOS, and social issues.

He was an avid reader devouring books on art, history, geography and politics.

He is missed by many including his closest friends - Jack, Libby, Mary Ann, Mia and Sharon.
