Obituary: Schauer, Angelyn Marie

Age 84

SCHAUER, Angelyn Marie Went to be with her Lord on October 19, 2014, at the age of 84.

Angie was a beloved mother, wife and sister, a fun and loyal friend, and a source of joy to all who knew her.

Her laughter, kindness and shining spirit will be deeply missed, and remembered with the greatest love.

Angie was born on the family dairy farm in Suring, Wisconsin, on August 8, 1930 to Edna and Otto Tuschy, the fourth child of nine.

Growing up in Suring, Angie shone as a bright, vivacious student, a leader in the Lutheran church and many school organizations, and was the first member of her family to graduate from high school.

Angie moved to Milwaukee, WI, after high school where she met and married Ed Schauer in 1952.

They moved to the Oregon coast for a time, and their first child, Anne Marie, was born there.

Daughter Mary followed two years later.

The family then moved to the Spokane Valley where Angie made her home for over 50 years.

Angie worked for Vera Water and Power for many years, retiring in 1995 to spend more time with her husband Ed, who died in 1997.

She was an avid golfer, bowler and gardener, enjoyed crossword puzzles and card games, was active in both Holy Trinity and Redeemer Lutheran churches, and passed her love of reading on to both of her daughters.

She was also a fabulous cook and baker, conjuring memorable feasts for holidays and special occasions.

In 2010, Angie moved to the Orchard Crest Retirement Community where she enjoyed the caring staff and fellow residents, and always found something to be grateful for and to laugh about.

What people involved in Angie’s daily life remember most about her is her laughter and unfailing good humor.

Angie is survived by her daughters Anne Marie Worden (Ira) of Kirkland, Washington, Mary Niles (Ken) of Keizer, Oregon, and a large extended family.

The family wishes to thank Horizon Hospice and the Valley Hospital Progressive Care Unit for their compassion and excellent care in Angie’s final hours.
