Rely on Beggs

What is expected of a county prosecutor? I found the answer on the American Bar Association website. There are five functions that told me everything I should look for in a candidate.

The first three were obvious, but Nos. 4 and 5 surprised me. No. 4 said that a prosecutor was to reform and improve the administration of criminal justice. No. 5 said that when injustices were found, the prosecutor should work for remedial action.

Looking at the two candidates for Spokane County prosecutor, I find that only one seems to have all the experience recommended. Breean Beggs has been at the forefront of embracing smart justice. This is an effort in Spokane to look at studies that show what works to make us all safer and save money. It is not an effort to coddle criminals or be lenient; it instead targets whom we should be tough on, and who needs alternative services.

With this new knowledge, it seems logical the right choice to lead Spokane into a better future is Beggs.

Ask yourself before filling out your ballot: “Do I want Spokane to seek progress and correct flaws in our justice system?” If it is positive change you want, I think it is Breean Beggs we can rely on.
