Cowan’s the straight shooter

Interesting headline in The Spokesman-Review Oct. 14 regarding the 6th Legislative District Senate race. The headline states that Rich Cowan’s ads are misleading. If David Wasson would have done his homework he would have discovered how Michael Baumgartner is the one with the misleading ads.

Let’s talk about all-day kindergarten. Baumgartner wasn’t even in office (2007-2008) when he claims “he brought all-day kindergarten to our community.” In fact, it was the Spokane Public Schools board that made the decision in the spring of 2013 to fully fund all-day kindergarten in all of our schools. Please note that Baumgartner never says “public education,” only “education.”

Besides the freeze on tuition that, by the way, has cut several viable programs at our colleges, what bills has Baumgartner brought forward in four years? Oh, yes: that the University of Washington play Gonzaga University in basketball every year. Really? That’s the best that he can do in four years?

Cowan is a strong business leader who brings local family-wage jobs to our community. In the past four years, what are those new jobs Baumgartner claimed he has created in Spokane?

Vote for Rich Cowan. He will work hard for a better Spokane and a smarter government.
