Felony charges recommended in fatal hit and run

Spokane Valley Police Department investigators have recommended that Tammy A. Hodge, 43, be charged with felony hit and run in the crash that killed Robert R. Royer, 47, on Sept. 2. Royer was struck and killed as he was riding his bicycle on the Park Road overpass over I-90 around 1:30 a.m. Hodge did contact police several hours later, according to a police department press release, and investigators have impounded the 1996 Saturn she is believed to have been driving at the time. Royer lived just a few blocks away from where he was killed. He had a 6-year-old daughter and newborn son. The Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether or not to file the recommended felony charge against Hodge.
