Obituary: Zimmerer, Mary Irene

ZIMMERER, Mary Irene With tremendous admiration and affection, we honor the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, and the foundation of our family.

At a dignified 96 years old, Mary was received into the heavenly arms of her Lord and Savior on March 28th, 2015 in Spokane, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Lawrence H. Zimmerer, and sister Miriam K. Christiansen.

She is survived by her children; Julia, Ed, Linda, and Leo, as well as numerous grand- children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was born to Edward and Harriet Wolf at the family home near Tekoa, Washington on December 30, 1918.

She was raised in Deer Park, WA and continued to be a resident there for the duration of her life.

Always a serious student, she graduated at the top of her class from Deer Park High School in 1936.

Following this, she married the love of her life on July 11, 1937.

After marrying, Lawrence and Mary spent 70 years embraced in true love while raising a family of four children.

A source of stability in both family and community, their farm was their life for decades.

A true testament to their dedication and strength, they labored on that dairy farm for nearly 40 years.

Their work on the farm allowed them to instill honest, hard-working values that would forever hold true in their children, and continue in the generations to come.

Mary’s life was led by her unwavering faith and devotion to The Lord and the United Methodist Church.

She was the heart of the church family, holding nearly every position in the church throughout the years.

A woman with commitment to community, she was active in Inland Empire Dairy Women, a member of the Williams Valley Grange, held office in the Women’s Christians Temperance Union (WCTU), and was a charter member of the very first Deer Park TOPS.

Mary was infinitely gentle and genuine hearted.

Simply said, she was a sweet and caring woman.

Quiet and soft spoken, she radiated goodness in all aspects of her life and had a special gift at seeing the world through eyes of sincerity.

She felt compelled to touch the lives of everyone she met, and was cherished by those who were blessed to know her.

Mary was a prayer warrior, allowing those to lean on her for her close connection and communication with The Lord.

Mary spent her final years in the comfort of her own home in the loving care of her dear friend Aura Arana.

The family has endless gratitude for her years of warmth and tenderness.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 2nd at the Deer Park United Methodist Church with Ron Baird officiating, followed with interment at the Spokane Riverside Memorial Park.

Arrange- ments by Lauer Funeral Home.
