Associated Press
WALLACE, Idaho (AP) — A North Idaho woman who shot and killed her husband and then left his body in their bedroom for more than a year has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Fifty-one-year-old Jackie Reed received the sentence Thursday in 1st District Court and must serve seven years before becoming eligible for parole. She pleaded guilty in January to voluntary manslaughter. Reed says that on the night she killed Greg Reed at their Osburn home in 2012 she was defending her life. Authorities say Greg Reed’s body wasn’t discovered for 15 months. Jackie Reed told people her husband had moved to Seattle but visited monthly. Judge Fred M. Gibler ordered Jackie Reed to repay $26,000 to Social Security she received after Greg Reed’s death.
