Obituary: Anderson, Kenneth R. “Ken”

Age 81

ANDERSON, Kenneth R. “Ken” (Age 81) Passed away April 11, 2015 in Spokane, Washington.

Ken was born on October 19, 1933 in Spokane, the youngest child of Iver and Fanny Anderson.

The family moved to Seattle when he was young.

He spent his high school summers working at Early Dawn Dairy in Spokane.

In college years he was at Point Barrow, Alaska working on the DEW line.

He was a graduate of Queen Anne High School, attended Stanford University and graduated the University of Idaho, Pacific Coast Banking School, and the American Institute of Banking.

He spent his career working in banking, starting as a branch manager in Seattle, and finally as a senior loan officer in Spokane.

Ken was well-known for his sense of humor.

He loved skiing and worked the ski patrol at Mt.

Baker.

He was always particularly proud of getting his pyrotechnic license.

He spent many years volunteering for non-profits, including Mid-City Concerns, Spokane Centennial finale celebration, Sacred Heart Follies, St. Luke’s Festival of Flowers and Wine Tasting, Riverview Retirement Community, Float judge for the Lilac Parade, the MAC museum and was chosen Honorary Chair of WAMPUM one year.

Special to him was being a tour guide at The Davenport Hotel.

He was a member of Central Lutheran Church, the Odin Club, and the Nile Temple Shrine of Seattle.

Whether it was delivering Meals-on-Wheels, driving the church van, or snowplowing the neighbor’s driveway he was always the first to jump in to help others.

His standard line when answering the phone was “what can we do for you?”

He is survived by his beloved spouse of 53 years, Kay (Wendle) Anderson; his son Erik Anderson (Amanda) Tennessee; his daughter, Marie Lottermoser (Heinz); his grandchildren Brian Birgenheier, Erika Burgess, Kyla Lottermoser, Max Lottermoser, Isaiah Anderson, Zoe Anderson; his brother Gordon Anderson of Everett; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Thomas.

Services will be held Saturday, April 18th, 3pm, at Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard, Spokane, WA 99204.
