She was born March 6, 1923 near Odessa, WA where she grew up on a farm.
She enjoyed varied interests over the years.
Vi was an excellent bridge player, and enjoyed watching bull riding.
She was a longtime active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Spokane and served as the church secretary for several years.
She also loved to travel.
She was among the first 20,000 when China opened tourist relations, and she especially enjoyed Nashville.
Vi was a resident of the Riverview Retirement Community for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Lightbody (1995).
Vi is survived by her daughter, Lynette (Dave) Peterson of Lake Oswego, OR; her granddaughter, Claire Peterson; and her brother, Bob (Casey) Hemmerling in Spokane.
Graveside Services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. in Spokane.
