Obituary: Corigliano, Louis C. “Louie”

Age 73

CORIGLIANO, Louis C. “Louie” (Age 73) Louie was born on January 16, 1942 in Spokane, WA to Charles “Chuck” and Rose (Polello) Corigliano and passed away at home surrounded by family in Spokane on April 18, 2015.

Louie attended Hamilton grade school and graduated from Rogers High School in 1961.

In August of 1962 he married Carol Becker in Spokane and their union would produce three beloved daughters.

Louie served two years active duty (on the USS Breckinridge) and as a reservist in the U.S. Navy from January of 1959 until he was honorably discharged in July of 1963.

Being an entrepreneur, Louie preferred self-employment and worked early on in his career as a barber, owning shops in North Spokane.

He was employed by JC Penney as a superintendent in their construction division for a number of years.

On April 26, 1980 he married Dody Woodford in Spokane, who would be his wife and partner for the last 35 years.

Louie and Dody returned to residential home building as Corigliano Construction, Inc. for many years in the Seattle and Spokane areas before his retirement in May 2009.

Louie never felt more at home than when he was out fishing.

He and Dody frequently went fishing in the Puget Sound while they lived in Seattle and later enjoyed visiting various lakes in Eastern Washington.

Louie also enjoyed camping, boating, and spending time with his family and playing Texas Holdem in his spare time.

Louie was diagnosed with Bulbar ALS in February 2014.

He lived courageously and enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, children, and numerous grandchildren.

He is survived by his beautiful wife Dody (Woodford) Corigliano; his children Carmen Kendall (Ron) of Spokane, Lisa Price (Rod) of Spokane, Amy Potts (Brent) of Los Gatos, CA, Paul Woodford (Vivian) of Puyallup, WA; his grandchildren Leanna McManus (Paul), Alisha Kendall, Adam, Zachary and Matthew Price, Naomi, Kieran, and Eliza Potts, Austin Woodford; his sister Patricia Todd of Kent, WA, his brother Robert Corigliano (Linda) of Spokane, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Corigliano and his mother Rose Chalmers.

A service will be held in memory of Louie Corigliano at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Church located on 9706 N. Division St., Spokane, WA 99218.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Rockwood Clinic, ALS Evergreen Association, the VA Medical Center, Life Care, and Horizon Hospice.
