People: Netflix announces ‘Full House’ reboot

From Wire Reports

John Stamos will produce and appear in a 13-episode reboot of the sitcom “Full House” for Netflix and said that he hopes as many members of the original cast as possible will return.

Netflix said Tuesday it has ordered the sitcom “Fuller House,” a spinoff where Candace Cameron-Bure stars as a pregnant and recently widowed mother of two. Jodie Sweetin, who played her sister in the original ABC series, and Andrea Barber, who played her friend, move in to help her.

Stamos told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday that he and the producers had been trying for a while to find the best way to revive the sitcom, which originally aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995.

Netflix said it is still discussing possible returns with Bob Saget, who played the widowed father of three girls in the original series, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Netflix said “Fuller House” will debut next year on the streaming television service.

PBS to review Affleck slavery request

PBS is conducting an internal review following revelations that producers of “Finding Your Roots” may have violated the network’s editorial standards after a request by Ben Affleck that the program not reveal he had a slave-owning ancestor.

Meanwhile, Affleck has expressed regret for seeking to have the information omitted from the episode that featured the actor and aired in October.

“We deserve neither credit nor blame for our ancestors and the degree of interest in this story suggests that we are, as a nation, still grappling with the terrible legacy of slavery,” Affleck posted on his Facebook page Tuesday night.

The review by PBS and New York station WNET began Saturday, according to a statement released Tuesday by PBS spokeswoman Anne Bentley.

In his Facebook post, Affleck acknowledges that, initially, “I didn’t want any television show about my family to include a guy who owned slaves. I was embarrassed.”

Paltrow, Martin to divorce after 11 years

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are officially uncoupling after the actress filed for divorce after more than 11 years of marriage.

Paltrow cited irreconcilable differences for the breakup of her marriage to Martin, who is the frontman for the band Coldplay.

The couple separated in May 2013, according to Paltrow’s filing. In March 2014, the pair announced they were undergoing a process they called “conscious uncoupling.”

Paltrow and Martin were married in December 2003 and have two children, ages 10 and 9. Paltrow is seeking joint custody.
