People: Wilson to don mantle as ‘king of slime’

From Wire Reports

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will host the Kids’ Choice Sports awards on July 16.

He takes over from Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, a former New York Giants defensive end who hosted the inaugural show last year that gathers top athletes and celebrities in a celebration of kids’ love of sports.

The show airs on Nickelodeon from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. It’s known for dumping gooey slime on guests.

Wilson said he had a lot of fun at last year’s show and describes himself as “a big kid at heart.”

“What an honor to be the king of slime for one crazy night,” he said in a statement Wednesday.

Wilson has led the Seahawks to Super Bowl appearances the last two years.

Bullock People’s pick for top beauty

People magazine has named Sandra Bullock as the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” for 2015.

The 50-year-old actress, who voices a supervillain in the upcoming movie “Minions,” tops the magazine’s list, announced Wednesday.

Commenting on being selected for this year’s cover, Bullock said she just laughed when she heard about the honor. “No, really. I just said, ‘That’s ridiculous,”’ she tells the magazine. “I’ve told no one.”

Bullock, who won an Oscar for “The Blind Side,” said she’s found beauty in her role as mother to her 5-year-old son, Louis.

Rehearsal does number on Hough

Derek Hough is recovering from injuries that have him sitting out of performances at Radio City Music Hall and could sideline him on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The Emmy Award-winning choreographer was injured Monday while rehearsing for next week’s 10th Anniversary “Dancing” special.

He was diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot and sprains and bone bruising to his left ankle.

His publicist confirms 29-year-old Hough will remain in Los Angeles this week to recover from his injuries while an understudy fills in on the Radio City “New York Spring Spectacular” in which Hough has a starring role.

Gymnast Nastia Liukin, Hough’s current “Dancing with the Stars” partner, is training with a different pro-dancer in the meantime.

It’s unclear whether Hough will be able to perform on Monday’s show.

Hough has won “Dancing with the Stars” five times, more than any other pro on the show.
