Area roundup: WSU’s Donika Bashota loses in round of 16 at Pac-12s

California’s Klara Fabikova defeated Washington State’s Donika Bashota 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday in the round of 16 at the Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Singles Championship at Ojai, California.
Bashota advanced to the round of 16 by upsetting 55th-ranked Madison Westby of USC 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 for the Cougars’ second singles victory over a nationally ranked opponent.
• Gonzaga’s season ended with a 4-0 loss to third-seeded San Francisco (13-9) during the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Championships in San Diego.
USF’s Andrea Ka defeated senior Katie Edwards 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. Edwards ended her career with 52 singles wins and 64 doubles victories.
The sixth-seeded Bulldogs finished the season 12-9.
Men’s tennis
Uros Petronijevic defeated Alvaro Nazal 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles as top-seeded San Diego (21-4) ended Gonzaga’s season with a 4-0 win during the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Championships in San Diego.
Nazal completed his career with more than 75 singles victories.
Ninth-seeded Gonzaga finished the season 11-11.
