Obituary: Dauenhauer, Sally L. (Heritage)

Age 72

DAUENHAUER, Sally L. (Heritage) Sally L. Dauenhauer (Heritage), was born in Opportunity, Washington on February 21, 1943.

She attended Vera Grade School, Greenacres Junior High, and graduated from Central Valley High School.

Sally loved her class of 1961 friends and looked forward to planning every reunion.

She went on to WSU and earned her degree from Cornish School of Allied Arts.

Her early years were spent with her first friends, her sisters and her cousins whom she loved.

Sally was a Girl Scout, a Worthy Advisor in the Rainbow Girls, and taught swimming lessons.

She began her career as an Interior Designer for the renowned Herman Miller as well as Barkley and Brown.

After her daughter Lisa started school, Sally became involved with the PTSA at McDonald Elementary.

She served as their President and won the Golden Acorn Award.

Sally started working for the Central Valley School District as an Educational Assistant working with struggling students at Ponderosa, McDonald, and Evergreen.

Mrs. D was known for going above and beyond for all students and staff at her schools, even running the clock for sporting events and reffing JV baseball.

Sally was a CVSD Meritorious Service Award winner.

Everyone looked forward to her “Sally Awards” each year.

Sally was “Mom” to many of Lisa’s friends and “Grandma Sally” to many more.

Her heart and her door were always open to them all.

Sally was extremely proud of her grandsons and enjoyed watching their music performances and sporting events.

She treasured her dog, Sadie, who was with her when she passed on April 16.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Elva Heritage; and her sister JoAnn.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Bennett; her daughter, Lisa Harding and son-in-law, Andy; her grandsons, Matt and Evan Peters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Red Lion Templin’s Resort in Post Falls on Saturday, May 2nd from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
