Rory McIlroy declares himself ready to go for PGA Championship
Rory McIlroy says he’s 100 percent and that all parts of his game appear to be in order. He was talking about golf for the PGA Championship — not his foray into soccer, which led to the world’s No. 1 player being out since the U.S. Open. McIlroy injured his left ankle playing around on a soccer field with his friends in Northern Ireland the first weekend in July. He showed up at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on Saturday and has been playing without apparent pain. He says he’s been trying to use only one golf ball to keep score to help get his competitive feel back. The first official round of practice Monday at Whistling Straits was stop-and-go in the afternoon as players twice were halted because of thunderstorms in the area. – AP
