Corey Simpson’s blast dooms Indians
EVERETT – Corey Simpson led off the bottom of the seventh inning with his eighth home run of the season and the Everett AquaSox, who lost all of a five-run lead, held off the Spokane Indians 8-6 in Northwest League on Wednesday.
The AquaSox (12-9) roughed up Spokane starter Emerson Martinez for five earned runs in just three innings of work.
But the Indians battled back and used a three-run seventh innning to knot the score at 6-all.
Spokane’s three runs came on a bases-loaded walk to Dylan Moore and a two-run double by Ti’Quan Forbes.
But the tie didn’t last long thanks to Simpson’s long ball off Spokane reliever Luis Parra (6-3).
The Indians (10-11) had a chance to tie Everett at the top of the North Division, but instead fell into a three-way tie for second place with Tri-City and Vancouver – two games behind the AquaSox.
Sherman Lacrus had three hits – all doubles – for the Indians and drove in a run.
Dylan Moore had a double and three RBIs for Spokane.
