Whitworth senior guard Matt Staudacher was named Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Pirates to two wins at last weekend’s Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic, the conference announced Tuesday.
Staudacher scored a career-best 25 points to lead Whitworth past host Colorado College in the championship game. He also had 11 points, five assists and three steals during a tournament-opening win over Hamline.
Staudacher is the second Pirates player to earn the award. Senior forward George Valle took the honors two weeks ago.
Whitworth’s men, ranked second by D3hoops.com, begin their NWC schedule at home Friday against Lewis & Clark.
