Prep basketball: Central Valley girls score big victory over Mead

Emily Burns and Lexie Hull tallied 14 points each to lift the Central Valley Bears over the Mead Panthers 64-31 in Greater Spokane League girls basketball play on Thursday.

Burns sunk three 3-point shots for the Bears and Hull nailed all six of her shots at the free-throw line. Central Valley opened the game with a 20-0 run with Lacie Hull scoring eight of those points.

Alyse Jackson scored 15 points to lead Mead.

Australia 51, St. George’s 34: Olivia Fuller score 16 points and Alexandra Walker added 12 points to help the visiting Australian team to a victory over St. George’s. Hailey Higashi led St. George’s with 11 points, including 1 of 3 from behind the 3-point line.

Reardan 45, Cheney 36: Gabby Singer scored 15 points to propel Reardan to a victory over Cheney to open the season. Jaden Landreth also nailed eight points for Reardan.

Brette Draper scored 16 points and hit three 3-point shots for Cheney.

Coeur d’Alene 67, Shadle Park 27: Emily Callahan scored 20 points on nine shots, including a 3-pointer, for a Vikings victory over the Highlanders in Coeur d’Alene.

Baylie Miller tossed in 11 points for Coeur d’Alene, including seven from the free-throw line. Abby Bauernfeind led Shadle Park with nine points on three baskets and three free throws.

Timberlake 59, Deer Park 11: Allison Kirby had 15 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Tigers in their victory over the Stags in Deer Park.

Keelie Lawler scored 12 points for Timberlake, while Jillian Widman accumulated seven points for Deer Park.

Republic 48, Kettle Falls 40: Lily Beckwith’s 3-pointer with 90 seconds left to play sealed the Tigers’ win over the Bulldogs in Kettle Falls.

Carlie Rittel finished with 15 points and Shania Graham scored 13 for the Tigers. Kettle Fall’s Makayla Hall had a team-high 11 points in the loss.

Boys

Jared Anderson tossed in 17 points to lead the Pullman Greyhounds to a 65-31 win over the Moscow Bears in Pullman

Jake Cillay scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds and James Miles added nine points for Pullman.

Glenn Gosse tallied nine points for Moscow.

Timberlake 67, Deer Park 59: Brandon Hausladea scored 16 points, while Dock Sommers and Brayden Menti each had 10 to give the Tigers a victory over the Stags in Deer Park.

Connor Markham also had 14 points for Deer Park in the loss – their first of the season.

Republic 41, Kettle Falls 32: Despite Dakota Crumpler scoring 15 points and Kettle Falls forcing 25 Republic turnovers, the visiting Tigers still managed to keep the Bulldogs from their first win of the season. Adrian McCarthy and Taylor Campbell each scored 13 for Republic, with Campbell doing all of his scoring in the second half. Aaron Fritz also had nine points for the Tigers.

Coeur d’Alene 45, Shadle Park 44: Sam Matheson lead the Vikings with 15 points and Will Mcelver had 10 points and eight rebounds as Coeur d’Alene defeated the visiting Highlanders.

Cheney 73, Reardan 32: Although Jordan Rohweder led Reardan with 13 points and one of its three 3-pointers scored in the game, it was not enough against the Blackhawks, as Cheney took home the win in Reardan.

St. George’s 57, Australia 43: Collin Cremers had 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting as St. George’s defeated a visiting Australian team. Cremers had two 3-pointers and was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Teammate Liam Sienko had nine points on 4-of-6 shooting with one free throw and seven rebounds.
