Volleyball: Huskies sweep Denver in first round of NCAA tournament

Courtney Schwan had 16 kills and nine digs and the Washington volleyball team swept Denver in the first round of the NCAA Division I Tournament at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle. Scores were 25-12, 25-14 and 25-12.

The Huskies’ Tia Scambray added 10 kills and six digs and Bailey Tanner and Katy Beals dished out 19 assists apiece.

Denver finished the season with a 27-8 record.

Washington (29-2) will play Michigan State in the second round on Saturday. The Spartans advanced with a straight-set win over Arkansas State.
