Late TD lifts Okanogan to State 2B title over Napavine

TACOMA – Junior Greyson Fields ran 1 yard for a touchdown with 2 minutes, 54 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give Okanogan a 36-34 victory over Napavine in the State 2B high school football championship game on Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Okanogan (13-1) beat Napavine (11-3) in the state final for the second straight year to win its third title. The Bulldogs won 17-14 last year.

Okanogan rallied from a 27-14 third-quarter deficit to go ahead 30-27 early in the fourth quarter. The Tigers regained the lead when Wyatt Stanley threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Mac Fagerness to put Napavine up 34-30 with 6:16 remaining.

Clay Ashworth completed 10 of 18 for 173 yards and three touchdowns to lead Okanogan. He also rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries. Mason Guerette had four receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

Stanley completed 18 of 27 for 282 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed 14 times for 82 yards and a touchdown. He threw three touchdown passes in the first half to give Napavine a 20-14 lead.
