Sheriff: Bonneville County inmate, 18, found dead in cell

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – Bonneville County Sheriff Paul Wilde said an 18-year-old jail inmate has died of an apparent suicide.

Deputies conducting rounds discovered the inmate about 2 a.m. Saturday. Wilde said deputies attempted to provide medical care and called paramedics but the inmate had died.

The inmate was identified as Brian J. Mitchell of Shelley, Idaho. He’d been in the jail since Aug. 20, 2015 and was alone in his cell when he died.
