Girls basketball roundup: Ferris storms back, tops Chiawana

Bria Bowton scored 16 points and Lexi Erickson added 12 points and 12 rebounds as Ferris erased a 13-point first-quarter deficit and beat Chiawana 74-68 in a nonleague game Saturday in Pasco.

The Saxons forced six turnovers in a 20-4 third-quarter run to get back into the game.

Ferris’ Kayla Sharp added 15 points and Megan Muelheim chipped in 10. The Riverhawks were led by Braydey Hodgins’ 24 points and 16 rebounds.

The Saxons improved to 4-1.

East Valley 42, Sandpoint 39: Elle Burland scored 14 points and Elle Burland and Maddie Bastin each added eight as the Knights clipped the host Bulldogs. Sandpoint was led by Madi Schoening and Grace Kirscher, who combined for 31.

Lakeland 50, Colville 19: Faith Bodak tallied a game-high 14 points and Kassidy Bilski added 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Hawks dumped the host Indians. Tauna Kirk chipped in 13 points and five rebounds for Lakeland.

Bonners Ferry 46, Newport 41: Kadi Bateman and Trinity Golder combined for 11 fourth-quarter points and the Badgers edged the visiting Grizzlies. Golder finished with 14 and Bateman had 11. Newport’s Hadley Stratton tallied a game-high 19 points.

Priest River 56, Deer Park 28: Jenavieve Hurd scored 13 points and Avery Summers added 10 as the Spartans took control from the get-go and dumped the visiting Stags. Deer Park’s Jillian Widman tallied a team-high nine points.

Dayton 47, Liberty 43: Joslyn Fullerton and Sydney Andrews combined for 21 points and the Bulldogs edged the visiting Lancers. Liberty’s Haley Marsh scored 13 points and Chrsitine Denny added 12.

Valley Christian 41, Coeur d’Alene Charter 38: Phoebe Trigsted made all five of her shots and finished with a team-high 13 points as Valley Christian edged visiting Coeur d’Alene Charter. Kendra Pope pulled down 12 rebounds for Valley Christian.

Great Northern

West Valley 47, Cheney 43: Grace Than scored 20 points and the Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter and beat the Blackhawks in Cheney. Cheney’s Kristie McGourin tallied a team-high 12 points, but dealt with foul trouble throughout. She sat for long stretches and fouled out in the fourth. Another Cheney starter, Brette Draper, also fouled out in the final quarter. The Blackhawks had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds, but the shot was off the mark and West Valley ice it at the free-throw line.

Northeast 2B North

Kettle Falls 47, Wilbur-Creston 30: Erin Johnson scored 18 points and the Bulldogs jumped ahead by 10 points in the first quarter and coasted past the Wildcats in Wilbur. Makayla Hall added 12 for Wilbur-Creston.

Davenport 69, Springdale 41: Meika Heath led four players in double figures with 24 points and the Gorillas routed the visiting Chargers. Springdale’s Eilish Smith made three first-half 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 15 points.

Northeast 2B South

Colfax 51, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 49: Taylor Garcia hit two free throws with 0.4 seconds left to send the Bulldogs past the host Broncos in Ritzville. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague erased a nine-point halftime deficit and Tessa Jantz hit a shot with 5 seconds left to tie it at 49, but Garcia’s free throws gave Colfax the win. The Bulldogs’ Carmer Gfeller led all scorers with 27. Peyton Curtis had 15 for LRS and Tommi Swannack added 12.

St. George’s 54, Tekoa-Rosalia 17: Hailey Higashi made 5 of 8 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to power the Dragons past the host Timberwolves. An 18-4 second-quarter run gave St. George’s complete control. Nikki Overton scored 11 for Tekoa-Rosalia.

Northeast 1B North

Republic 63, Inchelium 35: Demi Jo Vaughn had 17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals as the Tigers pulled away after a competitive first quarter and beat the visiting Hornets. Carlie Rittel added 10 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks and four steals for Republic, who gained control with an 18-5 third-quarter run. Savannah Bowe chipped in 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals for Republic, which made 10 3-pointers.

Cusick 70, Northport 39: Jocelyn Nenema led four players in double figures with 20 points and the Panthers routed the host Mustangs. Cusick’s Rachael Wynne added 18 for Cusick, which grabbed control with a 26-9 second-quarter run. Northport’s Ashtyn Baribault and Hailey Young combined for 26 points.

Selkirk 52, Curlew 28: Hannah Rick scored 20 points and Jenna Couch and Gabi Rick each added 11 as the Rangers opened the game on a 20-3 run and raced past the host Cougars. Curlew’s MeganJoe Beedle tallied a team-high nine points.

Odessa-Harrington 52, Columbia 17: Lanessa Simon had 16 points and nine steals and the Titans opened the game on a 16-2 run and eased past the Lions in Harrington. Katie DeWulf added 10 points for Odessa-Harrington, which came away with 20 steals.

Southeast 1B

Colton 88, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 9: MaryAnn Jacobs led five players in double figures with 18 points as the Wildcats extended their winning streak to 75 games with a win over the visiting Tigercats.

Oakesdale 42, Garfield-Palouse 30: A 13-2 first-quarter run helped the Nighthawks get past the Vikings in Garfield. Oakesdale’s Logan Reed scored 12 points and Lindsey Lindgren added 10. Keely Burnes led Garfield-Palouse with 12 points.
