Simmons late 3-pointer carries CV past Shadle

Justin Simmons made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining and Central Valley stormed back to defeat host Shadle Park 50-47 Thursday night in Greater Spokane League play.

Cameron Tucker led the Bears (5-1, 4-1 GSL) with 13 points, while Josh Thomas added 12 and Ryan Rehkow 10.

Markieth Brown made three 3-pointers and scored 17 points, while Tanner Groves added 12 for the Highlanders (5-2, 4-1).

Lewis and Clark 62, University 58: Naje Smith led the Tigers with 19 points and 10 rebounds as LC used a dominating second quarter to build a 13-point lead and held on to defeat the host Titans (3-4, 3-2).

Dominic Oliveri had 16 points and eight rebounds for Lewis and Clark (4-2, 3-1). Justin Martin added 12 points on four made 3-pointers for the Tigers.

Josh Hager (19 points) made six 3-pointers to help the Titans keep pace with the Tigers and teammate Austin Dill scored 15 for U-Hi.

Mt. Spokane 49, North Central 41: Sam Stiles scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Wildcats (1-4, 1-4) to their first victory of the sesason. The Wildcats scored 20 points in the final period and converted 12 of 13 free-throw attempts to defeat the Indians (0-6, 0-4).

Riley Smith led North Central with 14 points.

Gonzaga Prep 75, Rogers 45: Devin Culp scored 12 points to lead four double-figures scorers as the Bullpups (5-0, 3-0) coasted past the visiting Pirates (1-5, 1-4). Braden Morse and Logan Adams added 11 points for G-Prep, while Max Eugenio chipped in 10. Gonzaga Prep had a season-high 20 assists to go along with a season-high seven turnovers. KJ Hassett had 17 points for Rogers, including three 3-pointers.

Ferris 59, Mead 31: Mike Ervin (18 points) and Shamrock Campbell (16) powered the Saxons (2-4, 2-3) past the Panthers (3-3, 2-3) for a victory at Mead. Michael Winger led the Panthers with 13 points.

Great Northern League

Pullman 75, East Valley 56: James Miles had a game-high 21 points and added six assists as the Greyhounds (6-0, 2-0) opened an early 11-point lead and cruised late to defeat the Knights (3-4, 0-1).

Dante Clayton paced EV with 16 points, including four made 3-pointers.

Cheney at Clarkston: The game between the Blackhawks and Bantams was canceled due to bad weather and was rescheduled for Jan. 25.

Northeast A League

Lakeside 68, Newport 54: Gunnar Swannack and Cameron Gay scored 18 points apiece as the Eagles used a 27-9 burst in the third quarter to pull away from the visiting Grizzlies (4-2, 2-1) at Nine Mile Falls. Kyler Zorica led Newport (4-2, 2-1) with 14 points and teammate Ty McDaniel scored 12.

Nonleague

Lewiston 73, Moscow 37: Braeden Wilson scored a game-high 18 points and Trystan Bradley and Colton Richardson added 16 points apiece as the Bengals (3-4) eased to a victory over the visiting Bears (0-5). Noah Klocke led Moscow with 10 points.

St. Maries 52, Timberlake 49: Jake Sieler scored 25 points, including a reverse layup and two free throws with less than a minute left as the Lumberjacks (5-0) beat the visiting Tigers (2-4).

Timberlake never led, but came back from being down 18 points to cut the lead to one in the last minute of the game. Daniel Smith led Timberlake with 16 points. Jordan Hardy had a last-second shot for the Tigers, but was not able to hit the 3-pointer that would have tied the game.

Kellogg 48, Orofino 27: Toby Colburn scored 10 and Chase Jerome added nine points to lift the Wildcats (3-2) over the Maniacs. Colburn also grabbed seven rebounds and Ryan Martin led with four assists for the Wildcats.
