Boys basketball roundup: Brown scores 25 in Curlew’s win over Cusick

Gunner Brown scored 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Curlew edged Cusick 64-61 in a Northeast 1B League North game Friday in Curlew.

Cusick cut Curlew’s lead to one point late in the fourth, but the Cougars’ Daniel Tresham hit a pair of free throws with 4 seconds left and the Panthers missed a desperation 3-pointer as time expired.

Brown also made 8 of 11 free throws. Tresham finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Curlew (4-2, 2-2), which jumped ahead 18-10 in the first quarter.

Spirit White led Cusick (1-5, 1-2) with 18 points.

Selkirk 61, Inchelium 36: Logan Miller scored 20 points and Cole Dawson added 13 as the Rangers (6-2, 3-1) dumped the host Hornets (2-4, 1-3). Inchelium was led by Quentin Holford, who scored 19 points.

Republic 62, Northport 31: Taylor Campbell had 19 points and six steals and Aaron Fritts added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals as the Tigers (8-0, 4-0) routed the visiting Mustangs (0-5, 0-3). Adrian McCarthy added 14 points for Republic, which came away with 20 offensive rebounds. Aiden Middlesworth led Northport with 12 points.

Northeast A

Colville 68, Chewelah 45: Dallis Martin scored 19 points and the Indians (2-2, 1-2) used a 20-4 third-quarter run to pull away and beat the host Cougars (0-6, 0-3). Alberto Cisneros added 13 points for Colville. Chewelah was led by Jensen Holloway’s 15 points.

Medical Lake 68, Deer Park 40: The Cardinals (4-2, 3-0) hit six 3-pointers during a 20-0 second-quarter run and dumped the host Stags (3-4, 2-1). Medical Lake’s Cory Wagner scored 21 points and Jaelon Stith added 16. Deer Park’s Connor Markham and Austin Wisinger combined for 21 points.

Freeman 75, Riverside 27: Ryan Maine made four 3-pointers and finished with 23 points to lead the Scotties (5-1, 2-1) past the host Rams (0-6, 0-3). An 18-1 second-quarter run gave Freeman complete control. Kory Cross led Riverside with 10 points.

Northeast 2B North

Northwest Christian 57, Davenport 42: David Olds scored 14 points and Asher Cox and Ryan Ricks added 12 apiece as the Crusaders (4-1, 3-0) beat the visiting Gorillas (2-3, 1-3). Northwest Christian outscored Davenport 16-7 in the first quarter and led 31-19 at halftime. Davenport’s Nathan Hopkins tallied a game-high 15 points.

Springdale 57, Wilbur-Creston 46: John Lynch scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Chargers (5-2, 1-2) past the Wildcats (4-2, 2-2) in Wilbur. Dorian Jaeger led Wilbur-Creston with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Tucker Odegaard chipped in 10 points.

Northeast 2B South

St. George’s 49, Colfax 42: Collin Cremers scored 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to guide the Dragons (5-2, 2-1) past the visiting Bulldogs (2-3, 0-3). Cade Peplinski added 12 points for St. George’s. Keith Gfeller led Colfax with 11.

Liberty 68, Tekoa-Rosalia 44: Chase Burnham made 9 of 11 shots and scored 30 points to guide the Lancers (6-0, 2-0) past the host Timberwolves (1-5, 0-2). Keith Dumaw added 15 points for Liberty, which pulled away with a 30-15 third-quarter run. Kade Holling led Tekoa-Rosalia with 15 points.

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 74, Valley Christian 21: Dallas Isaak scored a game-high 22 points and added six assists and four steals as the Warriors (3-0, 3-0) routed the Panthers (4-2, 2-1) in Coulee City. Payton Nielsen added 16 points and 11 rebounds for ACH, which committed just five turnovers. Chase Strunk and Bradyon Oliver scored six points apiece for Valley Christian.

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy 71, Oakesdale 41: Oscar Morfin led four players in double figures with 18 points and the Pirates (3-3, 1-1) routed the visiting Nighthawks (1-6, 0-3). Oakesdale’s Kieron Anderson tallied a game-high 28 points.

Nonleague

Pullman 64, Lakeland 38: James Miles made 6 of 11 3-pointers and scored 20 points to guide the Greyhounds (7-0) past the visiting Hawks (1-4). Pullman made 10 of 25 3-pointers and won the rebounding battle 39-21. J Wells added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Greyhounds.

Newport 63, Omak 59: Robert Owen scored 20 points and Kyler Zorica added 13 points and seven assists as the Grizzlies (5-2) edged the visiting Pioneers. Newport’s Koa Pancho added 11 rebounds.
