Boys basketball roundup: Selkirk wins, moves into tie with Republic

Cole Dawson scored 20 points and Selkirk closed the game on a 6-0 run and beat Republic 58-55 in a Northeast 1B League North division game Saturday in Ione.

The win moved Selkirk (7-2, 4-1) into a tie with Republic (8-1, 4-1) atop the league standings.

Logan Miller added 15 points for the Rangers, including a halfcourt shot at the first-half buzzer that capped an 11-0 run for Selkirk. Jacb Couch added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Rangers.

The Tigers were led by Aaron Fritts, who scored 22, and Adrian McCarthy, who had 16.

Curlew 66, Northport 45: Gunner Brown scored 24 points to lead the Cougars (5-2, 3-2) past the host Mustangs (0-6, 0-4). Northport’s R.J. Plum scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Cusick 55, Inchelium 49: Tyson Shanholtzer scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter and added eight rebounds as the Panthers (2-5, 2-2) beat the visiting Hornets (2-5, 1-4). Winston Finley led Inchelium with 12 points and Terrence Holford and Jaden Erickson each added 11.

Northeast 2B North

Springdale 58, Reardan 55: Chandler Carr had 20 points and 13 rebounds and the Chargers (6-2, 2-2) edged the visiting Indians (1-4, 1-2). Reardan went on a 13-8 run in the fourth quarter to narrow the gap, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Springdale’s Austin Howder added 16 points, Enoch Clemmer chipped in 14 and John Lynch dished out 10 assists. Reardan’s Wyatt Thurman scored 14 points.

Northwest Christian 67, Kettle Falls 26: David Olds made three 3-pointers and scored 22 points and the Crusaders (5-1, 4-0) extended their winning streat to five games with a win over the host Bulldogs (2-5, 1-2). Kettle Falls’ Dakota Crumpler scored 13.

Davenport 55, Wilbur-Creston 44: Nathan Hopkins led three players in double figures with 15 points and the Gorillas (3-3, 2-3) beat the visiting Wildcats (4-3, 2-3). Wilbur-Creston’s Dorian Jaeger scored 18.

Northeast 2B South

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 62, Tekoa-Rosalia 41: Wyatt Roettger hit three 3-pointers and finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Broncos (3-2, 3-0) topped the Timberwolves (1-6, 0-3) in Ritzville. Jacob Saetre added 14 points for LRS. Cooper Angelo and Alex Pakootas scored 11 apiece for the Timberwolves.

Northeast 1B South

Wellpinit 80, Valley Christian 23: Cedric Bowen scored 20 points and Clayton Flett added 19 as the Redskins (4-2, 2-1) dumped the host Panthers (4-3, 2-2). Alfonso Salinas and Jacob Brown each added nine points for Wellpinit, which jumped ahead 33-7 in the first quarter. Valley Christian’s Braydon Oliver scored 13.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 74, Columbia 13: Dallas Isaak led four players in double figures with 21 points and the Warriors (4-0, 4-0) routed the Lions (0-6, 0-4) in Harrison. Dawson Dormaier added 15 points and Peyton Nielsen chipped in 14 for Almira/Coulee-Hartline, which made eight 3-pointers.

Southeast 1B

Touchet 66, Oakesdale 47: Carlos Rincon scored 11 points and Lot Butler added 10 points and nine rebounds as the Indians beat the host Nighthawks (2-6, 1-3). Tanner Dingman scored 11 for Oakesdale.

Nonleague

Prairie 58, Post Falls 55: Max McCullough and Zach Hillman scored 13 points apiece, but the Trojans (5-3) fell to Prairie in Tacoma.

West Valley 52, Sandpoint 28: Brennan Folkins scored 17 points and Johnny Sage added 16 as the Eagles (5-2) used an 18-4 third-quarter run to get past the visiting Bulldogs (2-4). Austin Yoakum added 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists for West Valley. Sandpoint was led by Davan Norris’ 12 points.

Lakeside 66, Colfax 41: Cameron Gay scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter and the Eagles (5-2) beat the host Bulldogs (2-4). Colfax’s Keith Gfeller scored 11.

Kellogg 62, Deer Park 48: Dominic Easley and Chase Jerome combined for 29 points and the Wildcats (4-2) forced 21 turnovers in a win over the host Stags (3-5). Deer Park’s Dante Myers scored 17 and Connor Markham added 16.
