Blackbird offers free Christmas meal to food service workers

In partnership with Food Services of America Spokane and Coca-Cola, Blackbird is offering a free Christmas Eve supper for restaurant and bar employees.

The menu features smoked turkey and figgy pudding. Seatings are at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Reservations are required, and seating is limited. The restaurant will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will open at lunchtime Thursday for this special meal. FSA is donating most of the food.

Volunteers sought for Food Advisory Committee

The Spokane Regional Health District is looking for people to serve on its Food Advisory Committee.

Openings are for a food service industry, temporary food establishment, medical/institutions, grocery store and consumer representatives.

The 13-member committee is a cooperative effort between SRHD’s Food Safety program and the local food industry. It helps in the development of educational materials and class instruction programs, and gives input on health district policies, procedures, regulations and fees.

Positions are voluntary, and members must be willing to serve a two-year term and be able to attend formal meetings on the first Wednesdays of February, June and November. Members must also be able to attend a special member selection meeting each January.

New Year’s Day buffet

Priest River Hardwood Grill is hosting an All-You-Can-Consume Prime Rib and Seafood Buffet on New Year’s Day.

Seafoods include fried calamari, popcorn and boiled shrimp, steamed mussels and clams, and grilled salmon. Plus, there’s a salad bar and pasta station with alfredo, marinara and bolognese sauces.

The buffet runs from 1 to 8 p.m. Jan. 1 at Priest River Hardwood Grill, 5634 Highway 2 in Priest River, Idaho. The cost is $20.16 per person. Children 9 and younger pay half price.

Clover reopens Mondays

Beginning Jan. 4, Clover will be open again on Mondays.

The restaurant has been closed Mondays for the past six months. Dinner is 4:30 to 9 p.m. There’s a cocktail hour from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Clover is located in a Craftsman-style house in Spokane’s University District at 913 E. Sharp Ave.
