Loon Lake man dead in Stevens County crash

A 72-year-old Loon Lake man died in a crash on Highway 395 four miles south of Chewelah just after 10 a.m. Monday.

Ronald L. Dyck was driving his 2003 Toyota pickup south when he lost control of his truck and crossed into the northbound lane, according to the Washington State Patrol. He struck a northbound 1995 Ford F250 driven by Daryl F. Hern, 44, of Lake Stevens.

Hern and his four passengers, three of them children, were injured. Dyck died at the scene.

Dyck was driving too fast for road conditions, the WSP said.
