Spokane, Washington  Est. May 19, 1883
Partly Cloudy Night 58° Partly Cloudy

Four corners: Washington State

Coming up: Friday vs. USC, 6 p.m. (Pac-12 Wash.); Sunday vs. UCLA, 6:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Wash.)

Outlook: The Cougars return home to open Pac-12 play against the Los Angeles schools after their big tests in Hawaii at the Diamondhead Classic. While the Cougars went1-2 in the tournament, they showed some life sticking with third-ranked Oklahoma for a half and nearly upsetting a well-respected Northern Iowa team. The Cougars finished their trip on a high note, knocking off a good New Mexico team. Coach Ernie Kent’s efforts to draw larger crowds have largely been futile and with the students still on break, WSU likely will again have to generate its own energy against the visitors.

WSU leaders:

Scoring: Josh Hawkinson, 16.5 ppg

Rebounding: Josh Hawkinson, 10.5 rbg

Assists: Ike Iroegbu, 4.1 apg
