Area roundup: WSU wins 12 events at Cougar Indoor

Dino Dodig claimed the heptathlon win and the Washington State men and women came away with 12 first-place finishes Saturday at the Cougar Indoor meet in Pullman.

Despite struggling with leg cramps in the 1,000-meter run, Dodig finished with a season-best 5,484 points.

WSU junior Than Pierson won the men’s high jump after reaching a height of 7 feet, 0 1/4 inches. He became the first Cougar to clear the seven-foot barrier during the indoor season since Trent Arrivey and Ryan Deese both did it in 2010.

Whitworth’s Joe Green earned a second-place tie in the men’s pole vault after clearing 15-7 1/4.
