Man accused of pulling fire alarm in attempt to flee

From staff reports
A man accused of an attempted carjacking tried to flee from police by pulling the fire alarm inside an apartment building, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said. Robert M. Currier, 34 earned himself a misdemeanor charge for tampering with a fire alarm when he allegedly pulled the alarm at Sunshine Terrace, an assisted living facility at 1102 S. Raymond Rd. According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, Currier ordered a woman to get out of her car just before 8 p.m. Friday, when she was parked near Sunshine Terrace. The victim said he tried to pull her out of the vehicle, but after a short struggle, she was able to push him out and drive away. She told deputies Currier had been visiting a resident at the living facility earlier in the day. Shortly after they went to search the facility, the fire alarm went off and deputies saw Currier attempting to leave. When questioned, Currier denied trying to take the car and said he pulled the alarm because there was a small fire. Deputies did not find any evidence of a fire. Currier faces a second-degree attempted robbery charge in addition to the misdemeanor.
