Michaela Kay hits from long range to spur Lewis and Clark victory over Mead

Michaela Kay hit two clutch 3-pointers in the fourth quarter that allowed the visiting Lewis and Clark Tigers to hold off Mead, 56-50, in Greater Spokane League girls basketball on Tuesday.

Kay finished with a game-high 20 points and Riley Lupfer added 15 as the Tigers (7-3 overall, 6-2 league) stayed within a game of second place.

Coreen Labish scored 14 and Sue Winger added 12 to lead Mead (6-4, 5-3).

Ferris 56, Rogers 55: The visiting Saxons (4-6, 4-4) rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to hold off the upset-minded Pirates (1-9, 0-8). Ferris won it at the foul line, making 16 of 21 attempts to Rogers’ 15 of 26. Siniva Areta led Ferris with 11 points and Sharaya Roberts and Lexi Erickson had 10 apiece. Makala Peterson led Rogers with 16 points, Talia Felice had 14 and Sarah Guertin chipped in 13.

Gonzaga Prep 76, Shadle Park 30: Otiona Gildon scored 12 of her game-high 25 points in the first quarter to lead the visiting Bullpups (10-0, 8-0) to a 31-8 start. G-Prep led 46-11 at halftime. Laura Stockton and Oona Harrington supported Gildon with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Shyla Carr led Shadle (2-8, 2-6) with 13.

Central Valley 64, Mt. Spokane 17: The Bears (9-1, 7-1) smothered the visiting Wildcats (5-5, 3-5) with defense. CV opened a 39-10 lead by halftime. Madison Hovren led CV with 20 points and Lexie Hull added 15.

University 51, North Central 36: The Titans (6-4, 5-3) built a 12-point margin in the first half and coasted thereafter at NC. Emma Kennedy led the Titans with 16 points and Kaitlin Pannell added 12. Megan Dean scored 14 for the Indians (0-10, 0-8).
