Big Sky roundup: Brandon Gfeller leads Montana to victory
Colfax grad Brandon Gfeller set career highs by scoring 23 points and hitting seven 3-pointers to lead Montana over Idaho State 90-64 on Saturday in Pocatello, Idaho.
Jordan Gregory added 20 for the Grizzlies (6-8, 3-1 Big Sky), which made a season-high 15 3-pointers on 27 attempts.
Gfeller made three-straight 3-pointers to make it 9-0 fewer than 2 minutes in, and his fourth 3 gave the Grizzlies a 10-point cushion with 15:07 left in the half.
Marcus Bradley led the Bengals (4-12, 1-3) with 19 points.
Weber State 65, Montana State 62: Joel Bolomboy posted a double-double, scoring 17 points with 11 rebounds as the Wildcats (7-8, 2-2) beat the Bobcats (3-13, 0-4) in Ogden, Utah.
Jeremy Senglin added 15 points for Weber State.
Michael Dison led Montana State with 17 points, five rebounds and five steals.
Northern Colorado 84, Sacramento State 73: Tevin Svihovec scored 26 points and the Bears (8-7, 3-1) bounced back from a halftime deficit to defeat the Hornets (9-6, 3-1) in Greeley, Colorado.
Svihovec was 9 of 14 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line.
Dylan Garrity finished with 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting for Sacramento State.
Northern Arizona 70, Southern Utah 67: Aaseem Dixon hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points as the Lumberjacks (7-9, 2-1) held on to defeat the Thunderbirds (3-11, 0-3) in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Casey Oliverson paced Southern Utah with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Portland State 82, North Dakota 75: Braxton Tucker scored 20 points and the Vikings (8-6, 2-2) held off a second-half surge by North Dakota (5-10, 1-3) to win at Grand Forks, North Dakota, snapping a two-game losing streak and ending a five-game road skid.
Quinton Hooker led North Dakota with 18 points.
