Colton ties state-record winning streak

Colton won decisively yet again Saturday night and is on the verge of making history.

Zoe Moser poured in 28 points and the Wildcats routed St. John-Endicott 65-32 in a Southeast 1B League game in Colton. The win was the 56th straight for the Wildcats, which is tied for the longest streak in Washington state girls history.

Kennewick (1999 to 2001) and Central Valley (2000 to 2003) also won 56 in a row.

Colton (12-0, 6-0) will look to set the record at Grangeville on Tuesday. The Wildcats beat the Bulldogs 63-37 in Colton in their season-opener on Dec. 5.

St. John-Endicott fell to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in league games.

Oakesdale 51, Liberty Christian 38: Jacey Johnson led a balanced attack with 16 points and nine rebounds and the Nighthawks (8-3, 5-1) pulled away late and beat the visiting Patriots. Oakesdale’s Logan Reed added 14 points.

Pomeroy 67, Garfield-Palouse 28: Kacey Halbert tossed in 27 points and the Pirates routed the Vikings (0-9, 0-5) in Palouse. Garfield-Palouse’s Keely Burnes tallied a team-high nine points.

Inland Empire 4A

Sandpoint 48, Lakeland 23: Madi Schoening and Lily Martin combined for 24 points and the Bulldogs (9-6, 1-0) routed the visiting Hawks (5-11, 0-1). Lakeland’s Kaidan Kelsey tallied a team-high 10 points.

Great Northern

East Valley 52, West Valley 50 (OT): Hannah Burland hit a game-tying bucket late in the fourth quarter and the Knights (9-2, 3-0) prevailed in overtime against the host Eagles (3-8, 1-2).

Burland finished with 23 points and six rebounds. West Valley, which led by five points early, got 14 points and 15 rebounds from Erin Higbie.

Pullman 43, Cheney 42: Emily Drake hit four 3-pointers, 8 of 9 free throws and scored 24 points as the Greyhounds (6-5, 2-1) edged the visiting Blackhawks (4-8, 0-5). Maddi Mueller added 10 points and seven rebounds for Pullman. Cheney’s Kendyl Cone also had 10 points and seven boards.

Northeast 2B

St. George’s 54, Davenport 49: Hailey Higashi drained 7 of 10 3s and finished with 29 points, nine rebounds and three steals in the Dragons’ (7-7, 3-5) win over the visiting Gorillas (5-7, 4-5). Davenport’s Sydney Abbott tallied a team-high 20 points.

Colfax 47, Wilbur-Creston 23: Carmen Gfeller and Ashtyn Aune combined for 21 points and the Bulldogs (11-3, 8-0) pulled away with a 21-4 second-quarter run and routed the visiting Wildcats (5-8, 2-6).

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 69, Springdale 48: Tessa Jantz had 21 points and seven rebounds and Tommi Swannack added 16 points and 11 boards as the Broncos (9-2, 6-2) used a hot start to get past the Chargers (5-8, 1-8) in Ritzville. The game was competitive, aside from LRS outscoring Springdale 26-8 in the opening quarter. The Chargers’ Emily Sulgrove and Eilish Smith scored 10 points apiece.

Kettle Falls 51, Tekoa-Rosalia 41: Erin Johnson scored 15 points and Makayla Hall and Daisy Hamilton added 10 apiece as the Bulldogs (5-7, 2-6) shined defensively in a win over the Timberwolves (7-5, 3-5) in Tekoa. Kettle Falls limited Tekoa-Rosalia to 26 percent shooting from the floor. The Timberwolves were led by Kimberly Groom, who had 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 68, Bonners Ferry 46: Emily Callahan hit four 3s and scored 22 points to guide the Vikings (9-6) past the host Badgers (5-6). Free throws played a major factor. Coeur d’Alene was 32 of 45 from the line while Bonners Ferry made 6 of 6. The Badgers’ Regan Byers and Savannah Woods scored 10 points apiece.

Odessa-Harrington 56, Curlew 51: Jordyn Tanke had 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and the Titans (4-8) fended off the Cougars’ second-half rally and won in Harrington. Casey Schlomer added 11 points and seven rebounds for O-H. Curlew (6-7) got its offense rolling late, but couldn’t overcome a 14-point halftime deficit. The Cougars’ Lindsay Gibson led all scorers with 26 points.

Republic 55, Valley Christian 21: Shania Graham had 21 points, seven steals and five rebounds as the Tigers (11-0) dominated through three quarters before letting up late in an easy win over the visiting Panthers (2-9). Republic’s Demi Jo Vaughn added 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Valley Christian’s Kailee Hayek tallied a team-high 10 points.

Cusick 52, Columbia 22: Rachel Wynne had 12 points, seven steals and five assists as the Panthers (3-6) opened the game on a 19-1 run and dumped the visiting Lions (0-10). Gracie Strangeowl added nine points and six assists for Cusick.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 60, Northport 7: Reinnee Rockett scored 15 points and Brenna Oliver added 13 points and eight rebounds as the Warriors (9-2) overwhelmed the Mustangs (1-9) in Coulee City.
