Area college basketball: Second-half run propels Gonzaga women past Pacific

Sunny Greinacher scored 16 points and Elle Tinkle added 15 points and 11 rebounds as Gonzaga used a 20-4 second-half run to secure its 10th-straight victory, 73-63 over Pacific in West Coast Conference women’s basketball play Saturday in Stockton, California.

The Bulldogs made 17 of 20 free throws and had a season-high 19 assists on 25 field goals. They also won the rebounding battle 49-25.

The game featured 16 lead changes, with 14 coming in the first half, until GU grabbed control with its decisive run midway through the second half.

Emma Wolfram added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Unique Coleman led four Tigers (14-6, 6-3) in double figures with a game-high 19 points and Kendall Kenyon added 11 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.

Gonzaga (16-4, 9-0) has nine remaining WCC games before the conference tournament starts on March 5. The Bulldogs play at Portland on Saturday. They beat the Pilots 79-57 at home on Jan. 3.

Northern Colorado 70, Idaho 52: The Bears (10-8, 4-3) hit 10 first-half 3-pointers to open up a 23-point lead in a Big Sky Conference win over the Vandals (8-10, 2-5) in Greely, Colorado.

Northern Colorado’s D’Shara Strange led a balanced offensive attack with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

For Idaho, Christina Salvatore had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Stacey Barr had 14 points and Brooke Reilly pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

The loss was the Vandals’ fourth in their past five games. They start a three-game homestand Saturday against Eastern Washington.

North Dakota 96, Eastern Washington 82: Mia Loyd and Makailah Dyer scored 19 points apiece and hot-shooting North Dakota (13-6, 5-2) topped the Eagles (11-7, 4-3) in a Big Sky Conference game in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

North Dakota shot 53 percent (32 of 60) from the field and had a 44-28 rebounding advantage.

Lexie Nelson had 24 points and five assists and Jade Redmon added 23 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists for Eastern Washington.

North Idaho 67, Colorado Northwestern 45: The Cardinals (15-7, 4-4) overcame an off shooting night by forcing 30 turnovers in a win over the Spartans (6-14, 0-7) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in Rangely, Colorado.

Kara Staggs scored a game-high 16 points and Maci Benedict and Monica Landdeck each added 11 for NIC.

Columbia Basin 64, CC Spokane 63: Sydney Mercer had 20 points and seven rebounds and the Hawks (13-6, 5-0) edged the Sasquatch (12-9, 1-4) in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Spokane Community College.

Khadija Neumeyer had 22 points and six rebounds and Gese Gruber added 15 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for CCS.

Men’s basketball

North Idaho 106, Colorado Northwestern 62: Jamaal Robateau made 10 of 11 shots, including 4 of 5 3-pointers, and scored 28 points to power the Cardinals (16-5, 4-4) to a Scenic West Athletic Conference rout of the Spartans (7-17, 1-8) in Rangely, Colorado.

Austin Pope added 17 points and eight assists for NIC, which shot 62 percent (42 of 67) from the field.

Columbia Basin 110, CC Spokane 95: Brandon Oswalt had 32 points, five steals and five assists and James Lopez added 30 points and 12 assists as the hot-shooting Hawks (11-8, 4-1) raced past the Sasquatch (12-8, 2-3) in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Spokane Community College.

Columbia Basin shot 63 percent (43 of 68) from the field, including 56 percent (15 of 27) from the 3-point line.

Jake Love led five CCS players in double figures with 25 points, and also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
