WCC roundup: Brad Waldow, Garrett Jackson lead Saint Mary’s over Portland

Brad Waldow had 19 points and nine rebounds, Garrett Jackson added 18 and eight, and Saint Mary’s overcame a slow start to beat host Portland 74-64 Saturday.

The Gaels scored 14 straight points to pull in front at 54-45 midway through the second half.

Pressley finished 3 of 4 from 3-point range with 18 points, and Thomas van der Mars had 16 points and 13 boards for the Pilots.

Kerry Carter had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists to help the Gaels bounce back from a 68-47 loss to No. 3 Gonzaga on Thursday.

Santa Clara 60, Pepperdine 57: Jared Brownridge and Brandon Clark each scored 13 and the Broncos nearly squandered a 14-point lead but held on to beat the Waves in Santa Clara, California.

Nate Kratch added 10 points for SCU, which moved into a third-place conference tie with Pepperdine and BYU.

Stacy Davis led Pepperdine with 21 points and nine rebounds.

San Diego 77, BYU 74: Thomas Jacobs came off the bench to score a career-high 19 points and matched his career high with 13 rebounds to lead the Toreros to a win over the Cougars in San Diego.

Johnny Dee added 18 points as San Diego ended a three-game losing streak.

Tyler Haws had 20 points for BYU.

Loyola Marymount 70, San Francisco 69: Evan Payne’s tip-in at the buzzer capped the Lions’ 17-point comeback to beat the host Dons.

Ayodeji Egbeyemi had 19 points while Payne and Humphries added 13 apiece for the Lions.

Tollefsen and Pinkins both scored 19 for the Dons and Tim Derksen added 15.
