Area hoops: Dean Richey’s 32 points power CCS men

Dean Richey scored 32 points, hitting 11 of 16 from the field and 8 of 12 from the free-throw line, to lead the Community Colleges of Spokane men (13-8, 3-3 Northwest Athletic Conference) to a 114-83 win over host Yakima Valley (3-17, 1-5).

CCS finished 14 of 30 on 3-pointers.

Women’s basketball

CCS 54, Yakima Valley 49: Khadija Neumeyer scored 19 points, hitting 9 of 10 free throws to lead a 20-1 scoring edge at the line, and added 11 rebounds as the Sasquatch (13-9, 2-4 NWAC) defeated the host Yaks (5-15, 2-4) to snap a three-game losing streak.
