Indians score eight runs late to win series with Volcanoes

KEIZER, Ore. – A late-game offensive outburst gave the Spokane Indians a 9-7 victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in the finale of a five-game Northwest League series on Tuesday night.

The win also gave the Indians a 3-2 series victory.

Spokane (6-7) erased a six-run deficit by scoring eight runs in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Jamie Potts plated three runs with a bases-loaded single. The Indians’ Doug Votolato scored all the way from first base thanks to a throwing error by Salem-Keizer right fielder Steven Duggar.

Spokane tacked on five more in the eighth. Dylan Moore had a two-run double in the rally.

Indians starter Luke Lanphere gave up five runs – four earned – in five innings. He gave way to Ashton Perritt, who allowed two runs in the sixth. But three Spokane relievers – Adam Choplick, Omarlin Lopez and Luis Parra – held the Volcanoes (5-8) scoreless over the final three innings.
