Obituary: Hatfield, Joseph “Kent”

Age 68

HATFIELD, Joseph “Kent” (Age 68) Kent passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on June 27, 2015 after a short illness.

Kent was born in Colfax, WA on January 27, 1947 to Lee Hatfield and Faith Hatfield.

Kent is survived by his parents; his wife, Lynn; daughter Kim (Brad) Cole; and grand-daughter, Sidney.

Kent was preceded in death by his brother, Jim.

Kent graduated from University High School in Spokane in 1965.

He then attended Yakima Valley Junior College.

In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, Lynn.

Together with Lynn’s family they managed the M & L Department Store in Argonne Village.

In 1973, they moved the store location to Davenport, WA where they resided for 18 years.

While in Davenport, Kent and Lynn met many of their lifelong friends and raised their daughter.

In 1988, his brother Jim asked Kent to join him in operating Hatfield Enterprizes, a long haul trucking company based in Spokane.

Kent and Jim enjoyed running the business together for 21 successful years, until Jim’s death in 2009.

Kent continued to operate the business until he retired in 2015.

He enjoyed time with family and friends, traveling, boating on the river, and following his granddaughter in sports.

He was an undefeated Cougar fan and loved Gonzaga Basketball.

He had a quick wit and an amazing sense of humor that we will miss.

Memorial services will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA, on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at 2:00 PM.
