Obituary: Silvey, Denise (Dion, Kszywanos)

Age 67

SILVEY, Denise (Dion, Kszywanos) (Age 67) Denise died peacefully June 30, 2015, after a courageous three year battle against brain cancer.

She was born on April 21, 1948 on her parent’s farm in St. Paul, Montmagny, PQ, Canada.

In February 1959 she moved with her family from the French speaking farming community to downtown Portsmouth, NH., USA.

Although it was a challenge entering an English-speaking school in the middle of the year, Denise learned to speak English, adjusted to a new living environment, made some close friends and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1967.

She worked for several years at Booth Fisheries while living in Portsmouth.

Denise married her first husband, Ronald Kszywanos in 1967 and her only son, Ronald D. Kszywanos was born in 1968.

In 1976 she met and married her beloved husband, Billy Silvey while he was stationed at Pease AFB.

Upon being transferred, they moved to Fairchild AFB, Washington.

Denise and her family made their home in the small town of Medical Lake, Washington.

They enjoyed over 35 years of camping, fishing and the beauty of this area.

Denise was employed at the Fairchild AFFES and retired after 22 years of dedicated employment.

Denise was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, in 2012; her parents, Rene and Claire (Blouin) Dion; and her brother-in-law, Robert Gould.

She is survived by her only son, Ronald D. Kszywanos and his wife Teri (Reid) of Spokane, WA; her brother, Jacques Dion and his wife, Linda of Lebanon, ME; and her sister, Lisette Gould Nash of Eliot, ME; several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins in the United States and Canada.

Ron and Teri would like to thank Dr. Wayne Lamoreaux (with the entire radiation team) and Dr. Sri Gopalunai of Cancer Care Northwest for their stellar care and compassion during this long journey of the unknown.

As well as the Hospice of Spokane team, for their kindness and support during the last several weeks.

Denise did not wish to have any service or memorial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Cancer Care Northwest foundation or Hospice of Spokane.
