Nets sign oft-injured Bargnani

NBA: The Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a deal with former No. 1 pick Andrea Bargnani.

Bargnani remains in New York after spending the last two seasons with the Knicks. He struggled with injuries and appeared in just 29 games last season, averaging 14.8 points.

Bargnani hasn’t played more than 35 games in a season since 2010-11 in Toronto, when he averaged a career-best 21.4 points. The Raptors, who drafted the Italian forward first overall in 2006, dealt him to the Knicks in the summer of 2013.

• Alan Anderson signs one-year deal with Wizards: Free-agent shooting guard Alan Anderson signed a $4 million, one-year contract with the Washington Wizards.

The 6-foot-6 Anderson played the past two years with the Nets, averaging 7.4 points and 2.8 rebounds last season.

Washington, which lost Paul Pierce when he decided to join the Los Angeles Clippers, also has added Gary Neal via free agency, Jared Dudley via a trade, and Kelly Oubre Jr. in the draft.

Five-star forward commits to Duke

College basketball: Jayson Tatum, the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2016, committed to Duke.

Tatum announced his decision at the Nike Peach Jam AAU tournament in South Carolina. He chose the Blue Devils over St. Louis, Kentucky and North Carolina.

Tatum is a 6-foot-8, 190-pound wing.

Ducks sign Stewart to one-year deal

NHL: RW Chris Stewart has agreed to a one-year, $1.7 million deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Stewart played for Buffalo and Minnesota last season, collecting 36 points and 88 penalty minutes.

Liverpool reaches deal for Sterling

Miscellaneous: Liverpool has reached an agreement with Manchester City over the transfer of Raheem Sterling for 49 million pounds ($76 million), according to a person familiar with the situation.

Sterling is one of English soccer’s top young players and an established member of the national team after making his international debut in 2012. He has scored one goal in 16 England appearances.

For Liverpool, he has scored 23 goals in 129 appearances.

• Jockey Rajiv Maragh injured in spill: Jockey Rajiv Maragh remains hospitalized with four fractured vertebrae, a broken left rib and punctured lung after a frightening spill during a race at Belmont Park in New York.

The accident occurred during Friday’s fifth race at Belmont. Maragh has won more than 1,600 races over a 13-year career .

• Marquez wins for sixth time in Germany: World champion Marco Marquez beat Dani Pedrosa for a Repsol Honda 1-2 at the German Moto Grand Prix in Hohenstein- Ernstthal, Germany, claiming his sixth straight in as many visits at the Sachsenring.

Marquez crossed the line in 41 minutes, 1.087 seconds to maintain his run of German victories, all from pole position.
