Obituary: Elliott, Norman “Norm/Normie”

Age 76

ELLIOTT, Norman “Norm/Normie” Passed away June 5, 2015 at Hospice House in Spokane, Washington from lung cancer, with family and friends at his side.

Norm was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 26, 1938.

He served in the United States Air Force as an electrician from 1958-1964.

While serving at Fairchild AFB he met his wife of 54 years.

He worked at Dictaphone as a field service technician for 40 years.

He was also very involved with minor hockey in Spokane as a parent, coach and referee for many years.

After retirement he volunteered with Lilac City Figure Skating Club.

He enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Kayleigh, improve and advance in skill at skating.

Norm had a lifelong love of technology and computers.

He was very proud of his granddaughter, McKenzie, as she graduated from high school and prepared for college in the fall.

One of the last things he accomplished was picking out the best computer for her to use in college.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Peter Roulo; his mother, Martha (Schock) Roulo, and his brother, Dennis Elliott, all of the Detroit, Michigan area.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Rae (Hemmerling) Elliott; his sons, Doug (Ami) Elliott and Dan (LaVonne) Elliott, ad his much loved granddaughters, McKenzie and Kayleigh Elliott, all of Spokane.

He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Debbie) Elliott, sisters-in-law, Marty and Carol Elliott, all in Michigan.

He leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 22, 2015 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge, at 6410 N. Lidgerwood St., Spokane, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Norm’s name may be made to the “Sandy Blackwell Memorial Fund” (to benefit Lilac City Figure Skating Club) or “Spokane American Youth Hockey Association”, mailed to 6312 N. Addison Street, Spokane, Washington 99208.
