Obituary: Scholz, Jonathan Thomas Arthur

SCHOLZ, Jonathan Thomas Arthur Jonathan Thomas Arthur Scholz, 37, of Steptoe, passed away on July 15, 2015 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with vault inurnment following at the Bethel Cemetery in Steptoe.

A covered dish reception will follow at the Steptoe Grange Hall.

Jonathan was born on August 12, 1977 in Colfax, Washington to Jonathan and Ginna (Oliver) Scholz.

He grew up on the family farm in Steptoe and attended Steptoe and Colfax schools.

He graduated from Colfax High School in 1995 and shortly after moved to the Spokane-Coeur d’ Alene area before settling in Kirkland.

One of his favorite things to do was design and install elaborate stereo systems.

With his creative abilities and skills in electronics he started a successful home theater installation business in Kirkland.

Despite enjoying city life, Jonathan came home every season to help with farm responsibilities.

He loved working the land and being a farmer.

In 2008 Jonathan moved home to be closer to his family and work with his father and brother full time on the family farm.

He continued to travel to the Seattle area and around the country maintaining and installing theater systems part-time.

He enjoyed everything outdoors from hunting and fishing to boating and four-wheeling.

He will be lovingly remembered for his love of photography (a family trait) as well as being a loving son, brother, and uncle.

He touched many lives with his lively personality and generous heart.

Jon will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

While Jonathan may have left us to join his family in Heaven, his spirit will be carried on by his family, including his parents, Jonathan and Ginna Scholz of Steptoe; siblings Amanda (Jose) Ronstadt of Ridgefield, Washington; Tamara (Harley) Lysons of Belgrade, Montana and Spencer (Geraldine) Scholz of Steptoe; nephews Raleigh Ronstadt and Gunnar Scholz; grandmother Delia Oliver of Sandpoint as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Lucille Scholz and Arthur “Roy” Oliver.

Memorial contributions in Jonathan’s honor are suggested to the Whitman County Fire District 11 (Steptoe) or to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Chaplaincy.
