Obituary: Turner, Vivian R.

Age 76

TURNER, Vivian R. Vivian R. Turner, longtime Spokane resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th.

Vivian was born on December 18th, 1938, in Rexburg Idaho, the daughter of Leon Marshall and Violet (Bigler) Marshall.

Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Turner.

They were married in Idaho Falls on December 5th, 1957.

Together, they had two sons, Robert and Michael, both of Spokane.

Vivian was a very active person, playing softball, swimming, fishing, and considered herself a tom-boy in her youth.

She was a hardworking, headstrong, intelligent woman who was successful in her occupations, working as a secretary at the ARCO nuclear site, at Northwest Acceptance Corporation, CIT Group, and finally retiring from Washington Trust Bank.

Vivian loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was very skilled and creative and left behind many special personal crafts and cross-stitch pieces for family, friends and her church.

She loved to cook and there were always cookies in the cookie jar for her family!

Most of all Vivian was a peacemaker.

She worked hard all of her life, up to the end of her life, to create an environment where family could be together and love one another - even if she had to force them to love one another!

Vivian is survived by her brothers Kay Marshall (Peggy) of Atlanta and Rex Marshall (Cathy) of Gardnerville Nevada; her sons, Robert (Karrie) and Michael; and her grandchildren, Richelle, Victoria (Taylor) Bailey, Matina (Scott) Turner, Glenna (Sam) Mineer, Megan, Spencer, and great-grandchildren McKenzie, Kason, Emma, and Paisley.

Vivian also leaves behind many other family members and friends.

She was so loved and will be missed beyond description.

Vivian was one of those unique persons that, until they are gone, you really don’t know how much she influenced your life.

She left a lasting impression on all those she met.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Guild School for her great-grandson McKenzie.
