In brief: City offers tips from water pro

SPOKANE – To help residents conserve water, Spokane is offering free appointments with the city’s irrigation specialist.

The specialist will help homeowners identify maintenance issues with sprinkler systems, consult on sprinkler schedules and provide tips on watering and landscaping.

The service is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sign-ups open for grange camp

STEVENS COUNTY – The Washington State Grange is accepting applications for the Northeast Washington Junior Grange Camp at Lake Thomas in Stevens County.

Camp NEWA will run Aug. 2-8.

Campers ages 8 to 14 will take part in a variety of activities, including fishing, hiking, swimming, crafts and pingpong.

The camp costs $175.

Class reunion marks 61 years

SOUTH HILL – The St. Augustine’s School eighth-grade class of 1954 is having its 61st reunion this weekend.

Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Augustine’s Parish, 428 W. 19th Ave.

The 100th anniversary of the Franciscan nuns coming to Spokane will also be celebrated during the service.

On Saturday, there will be a tour of the school and reunion dinner at the Spokane Club, a no-host happy hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30.

On Sunday, class members will meet at the Park Bench in Manito Park at 11 a.m.
