Indians win on back-to-back home runs in 10th

PASCO – Jamie Potts and Dylan Moore hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the 10th inning and the Spokane Indians turned a seven-inning pitching duel into a 6-4 extra-inning slugfest victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils Sunday night. Despite the loss, the Dust Devils (22-16) still finished as the Northwest League North champion, thanks to Everett’s loss to Vancouver. Tri-City held the tiebreaker over Everett after winning the first-half series two games to one. Dust Devils’ outfielder Jose Carlos Urena’s two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth gave Tri-City a 3-1 lead, but the Indians scored three runs mixing four singles and a sacrifice fly to take a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately, the Indians weren’t able to keep the Dust Devils off the scoreboard as Spokane reliever Emerson Martinez walked in a run with the bases loaded sending the game into extra innings. Tri-City left the tying runs on base in its half of the 10th inning. Spokane (19-19) finishes the first half in third place, three games back. Shortstop Yeyson Yrizarri had three hits, drove in the first two Spokane runs, and scored a run. Cole Wiper’s third straight start giving up one run or less went for naught. Wiper pitched five innings with two strikeouts and three hits allowed.
