Liberty Lake Police Blotter: Pound of heroin left in vehicle

A woman recently tried to have her live-in boyfriend arrested over a Play Station game system, but Liberty Lake police officers declined to grant her wish.

The woman called police to the 25000 block of East Hawkstone Loop on July 20 to report that she and her boyfriend were fighting over the Play Station. When police arrived, he was outside holding the game system and she said she wanted to report it as stolen, Police Chief Brian Asmus said.

Officers told her that since the two lived together, it was considered a civil issue and they could not arrest her boyfriend.

However, police would like to arrest the man who fled the area of Aladdin Road and Mission Avenue on Friday, leaving behind nearly a pound of heroin. An officer spotted a “known” vehicle in the area just after 4:30 p.m. and apparently the driver recognized the officer as well because he immediately drove away at high speed.

He left his car at a local gas station and climbed the fence of a nearby business to get away, leaving his illegal drugs behind.

Other calls from July 20-27

July 20: A resident in the 24000 block of East Spotted Owl Lane called to report that a neighbor had threatened to shoot him and several other neighbors. The woman told police she was upset about a reported dog violation but hadn’t threatened to shoot anyone.

July 22: A man was arrested in the 200 block of North Holiday Hills Drive on a charge of second-degree domestic violence assault after allegedly choking his victim.

Citations: Officers handed out three citations for failure to show proof of liability insurance. Additional citations were given for license and plates required, expired vehicle registration, failure to yield right of way, speeding and resisting arrest.
