Area roundup: Kristen Rue, Alivia Brown help Cougars place 11th
Senior Kristen Rue and freshman Alivia Brown notched top-20 finishes to help the Washington State Cougars women place 11th at the Bruin Wave Invitational in Tarzana, California, on Tuesday.
Rue and Brown concluded the three-round event with 11-over-par 227s, tying them for 17th place.
Rue was just 5-over after the first two rounds before carding a 6-over 78 on the final day. Brown led the Cougars in the third round with a 2-under 70.

Idaho Vandals senior Sophie Vickers was named the Big Sky Conference women’s tennis player of the week the conference announced.
Vickers, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, posted a 4-0 record as the Vandals picked up conference wins over Eastern Washington and North Dakota. Vickers also posted a 2-0 record in doubles.
